Why previous cleaning cannot be assumed

A property can look presentable and still not have been cleaned to a standard you would choose. Cabinet interiors, appliance interiors, and bathroom detail are commonly skipped in a rushed turnover — and those are precisely the places you will be storing food, cooking, and washing.

Priorities before anything comes in

2. 2Bathrooms: full clean of fixtures, fittings, tiling, and glass
3. 3Floors throughout, while they are completely clear
4. 4High dusting of fittings, vents, and frames

Things worth checking while the property is empty

• Extractor and HVAC filters, which are easy to reach now and awkward later
• The state of grout and sealant in bathrooms
• Inside the refrigerator including seals, and behind it if it moves safely
• Whether floors need more than cleaning — some need treatment matched to the material
